New Horizons has adapted all of its vocational programming to accommodate persons who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, blind or severely visually impaired. New Horizons staff will focus on a person’s positive attributes enhancing the skills necessary to seek and retain employment. Specialized programs and services include evaluation, training, job coaching and placement as well as follow-up services.
Emphasis is placed on providing specialized programs for persons who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, blind or severely visually impaired for the following reasons:
- These individuals have unique vocational issues.
- The general public often does not recognize the full potential of people with these impairments.
- Communication issues often exist between these individuals and the business community.
- The skills and abilities of those with these impairments are often overlooked.
