New Horizons presents three major fundraising events each year as a way to introduce participants and the general public to the work of our agency and showcase our mission.  Our events are intended as a creative way to mix raising public awareness with the generation of revenues.  These events and related corporate sponsorship and advertising opportunities include:

  • Annual "Make a Difference" Charity Auction
  • Annual Charity Golf Outing
  • Annual Awards Ceremony – “Success in Action…Moving Lives Forward”

New Horizons is excited to announce the 20th anniversary of our highly successful “Make a Difference” Charity Auction. On Friday, April 30, 2010, New Horizons will host the gala event at the Auburn Hills Marriott Pontiac at Centerpoint. This annual fundraiser has turned into a “must attend” sell-out event raising a remarkable $1,500,000 since its inception. Our heartfelt appreciation is extended to all of our friends, colleagues, and donors for their continued generosity and support in making this event so successful.

The funds are used to help create jobs and training opportunities for people with disabilities and empower them to achieve greater independence in their lives. Numerous sponsorship opportunities are available for individuals, companies, and organizations to participate and support this wonderful evening. Donations of silent and live auction items are also greatly appreciated.

The New Horizons 15th Annual Charity Golf Outing was held Friday, September 11, 2009 at the Woodfield’s Captains Club in Grand Blanc (a Ray Floyd Signature Course). The day included 18 holes of golf with cart and range balls, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great door prizes, raffles, and a “Traveling Trophy” for the winning foursome added to the enjoyment of the outing. Check back in early summer for registration and sponsorship information on this Fall Classic scheduled for Friday, September 10, 2010.

The theme for the 45th Annual Awards Banquet and Ceremony, “Success in Action…Moving Lives Forward”, appropriately described our focus on the abilities of our consumers. The sell-out event was held Thursday, September 24, 2009 at the Auburn Hills Marriott Pontiac at Centerpoint. This long-standing event is held to highlight the many qualities of our consumers, community leaders, and employers.

Lee Thomas, FOX 2 News feature reporter and anchor and the host and editor of FOX Beat, was our Master of Ceremonies and his heartwarming story captivated the audience. We hope you will add this event to your calendar and consider attending this year’s event on Thursday, September 23, 2010. Sponsorships will be available to help defer the costs for the evening and provide opportunities for our consumers to attend.
